Hi Janine,
In regards to your questions regarding Asian doctors and nurses working in Australia. Firstly unless these doctors have western experience i.e. in the UK, Canada or USA it is likely they will not gain registration here in Australia. For the nurses it is pretty similar in that they can apply for registration here in Australia but they will be required to do a English language test (either IELTS or OET), the IELTS results need to be an overall band of 7 and then individual scores of 7 in writing and speaking and 6.5 in reading and listening. On top of doing the English language test they will also be required to do a pre registration course, the cost of the course is approximately $8,000 to $11,000 Australian dollars. On successful completion of the course they will be granted registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria and eligible for mutual registration in all other States of Australia.
We are happy to guide them through this process and if they successfully pass our screening interview we will put them forward for the pre registration course, the first beginning in March 2009 and running for 12 weeks.
Please let me know if any of the nurses would be interested in proceeding knowing the above conditions.
Regards
